From 2014 to 2020, everyone saw the rise and dominance of Mercedes in Formula 1. From drivers to constructors’ championships, they won every possible title from 2014 to 2020. Sadly, they only won the constructors championship in 2021 and missed out on the drivers’ championship. Lewis Hamilton was just seven points away from his 8th F1 title.
Since then, Hamilton hasn’t won a single Grand Prix for two consecutive seasons. Also, Mercedes has only gotten one win in two seasons, which was won by British racer George Russell at the 2022 Brazilian Grand Prix. One of the main reasons for their downfall is that they are less competitive compared to Red Bull and Ferrari.
Lewis Hamilton has secured podium finishes multiple times but hasn’t been able to surpass his newest rival, Max Verstappen. Well, recently, the Red Bull principal, Christian Horner, said something that will shock the entire F1 and Mercedes fanbase.
Cristian Horner said,
“Around the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix, Hamilton had conservations with John Elkann (Ferrari Chairman).”
Hamilton’s contract with Mercedes will come to an end after the 2025 season. By that time, he will be 40 years old and would love to compete in Formula 1.
It seems like he wants to switch to a better car than Mercedes, whether that is Red Bull or Ferrari. Red Bull and Max Verstappen have been rivals of Lewis Hamilton, so it doesn’t make sense that he would be joining them. On the other hand, which driver doesn’t want to be in a Ferrari F1 car?
Whether Lewis Hamilton will join Ferrari or other teams in the future, only time will let us know. Till then, let’s take a quick sneak peek at Hamilton’s F1 career.
In case you missed: “If you put Lewis or Fernando in the other Red Bull, they wouldn’t beat Max Verstappen,” says Felipe Massa
