Rookie players are those who haven’t played a single game in the NBA. Such players who haven’t played a single game in the NBA are given a rookie contract regardless of their age. Yes, there is no age limit for a player to sign a rookie contract.

Players are selected through the NBA draft, and the first-round players are offered a four-year rookie contract. The amount of the rookie contract is fixed and under the $12 million mark. The first two players selected in the draft are paid the highest amount of money, and as the players are selected, the amount keeps getting lower but not below the $3 million mark.
