NBA Draft eligibility explained

The National Basketball League is one of the major professional sports leagues in America. Currently, in the league, a total of 30 teams compete against each other to win the title.

Every team in the league has a minimum of 13 players. As of now, every player who makes it into the NBA needs to be picked by a team in the NBA Draft. Well, who can make a place in the draft? College students? School students? Or anyone else? So, let’s take a look at the NBA Draft eligibility explained in the article.

NBA Draft Eligibility

Just like other sports drafts, the NBA draft also has some rules and regulations. There are two primary rules when it comes to NBA draft eligibility.

  • Must be at least 19 years old.
  • If he is not an international player, he must be removed at least one year from his graduation from high school.

If high school players or college players pass out

  • They must graduate from high school.
  • They must have completed four years of their college eligibility.
  • They have signed a contract with any professional basketball team outside the NBA.

Apart from that, there are no other rules or regulations for being eligible for the NBA draft. Every year, more than 1,500 players are eligible for the NBA draft, but only 60 players are chosen. All 30 teams in the NBA get a chance to select players as per their order of pick.
