After a heavy rain and a hard race when the chequered flag went down, it was Perez who crossed the line first. Sergio Perez with the victory became the most decorated Mexican in Formula One. Sergio Perez
Sergio Perez, born in 1990 is a Mexican Racing Driver who currently drives for the Red Bull racing team. He have previously started for Sauber, McLaren, Force India and Racing Point. The 31 year old debuted in F1 at the 2011 Australian Grand Prix.
He is infamous for the most numbers of starts before a victory, 190. His first victory in the 2020 calendar at Sakhir GP. Perez’s first pole came two years later at Saudi Arabia in 2022.He is the only Mexican to have a pole position. His other victories in F1 are 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix and 2022 Monaco Grand Prix
Pedro Rodriguez
Pedro and Perez are the only Mexican Racing Drivers to have a Grand Prix victory. The Mexican city born racer raced during the years of 1963-1971. He debuted in the ’63 season at the United States Grand Prix. His first Grand Prix victory came in his ninth race at Kyalami. It was the South African Grand Prix of 1967.
He won once more at the Spa in 1970. He was killed in a Interseries race at Nuremberg in Germany. It is said that he always traveled with a Mexican flag and a record of its anthem. The latter was because when he won in 1967, they didn’t have their anthem and had to play the Mexican hat dance
Héctor Rebaque
Héctor Rebaque was a Mexican Racing Driver from the calendar years of 1977 to 1981. He entered in 58 F1 races where he started in 41 one of them. The Mexican city born racer debuted in 1977 in the Belgian Grand Prix. His best result in F1 was in 1981 where he finished three races at P4.
He owns the record of being the only Mexican who raced for his own team. In 1978 and the following year, Rebaque raced in a team called Team Rebaque. He later on went into business and architecture.
Esteban Guttierez
Guttierez hailing from Monterrey in Nuevo Leon is a current driver associated with Mercedes. He has previously represented Sauber from 2012 to 2014 and Haas F1 in 2016. He debuted at the 2013 Australian Grand Prix for Sauber.
Esteban holds the record of being the youngest Mexican to win an International Championship. He was the champion at the 2008 Formula BMW Europe Championship. Esteban has started in 59 races. His best result in F1 is the P7 in 2013 at the Japanese Grand Prix. He is one of the Mexican Racing Drivers who has promise and a loaded future.
Ricardo Rodriguez
Ricardo is the younger brother of the Formula One Driver Pedro Rodriguez. He is the first Mexican to race in Formula one. Hailing from the capital he has entered in only 6 races but only started in 5. He debuted for Ferrari in Italian Grand Prix of 1961. His highest acclaim in F1 was P4 at the 1962 Belgian Grand Prix. He earned 4 points in the season.
He is still the youngest driver ever to have raced for Ferrari at the age of 19 and 208 days. The young Mexican held the record of the youngest ever to earn Championship Points until 2000 Brazilian Grand Prix. A suspension failure in 1962 saw him passing away at the bare age of 20. His death was declared a national mourning in Mexico
Moises Solana
Solana was a Mexican Racing Driver who started in just eight races. He completed three of them however won no points. His highest finish was the 1964 Grand Prix at his home, Mexican Grand Prix. That race was one of the most entertaining and dramatic races in the whole F1 history.
Solana finished P11. His notable mention include the fact he was the F1 driver who started a race in No 13 car. This happened in the above mentioned race. He was killed in in the Hillclimb Valle de Bravo-Bosencheve in Mexico, in a fatal accident after his McLaren went wide in a bend.
