Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fly to Milan for holiday after being dropped from Chelsea’s UCL squad

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has taken off for abroad, after Graham Potter's decision to drop him from the team's UCL roster.

Following Chelsea manager Graham Potter’s decision to drop Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from the team’s Champions League roster, it appears that he has taken off for abroad.

As the unfortunate player forced to make room in the small team for new January arrivals Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez, Aubameyang was dropped from Chelsea’s European squad on Friday.

The out-of-favour Blues striker now appears to have flown to Milan while his team was held to a scoreless draw by Fulham on Friday night.

The international star of Gabon was depicted in his brother Willy’s Instagram story while the two were vacationing in Milan with other family members. In the group photo, Aubameyang is seen at the front posing in a blue and white Louis Vuitton jumper while holding what looks to be the camera. Why was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left out of the squad?

Chelsea took such decisions to omit a few players from the squad to slot in new signings. However, given that the player was absent from Chelsea’s visit to Fulham, the move happened at an odd time. It currently needs to be discovered whether Aubameyang was given permission to leave or departed without it.

Aubameyang joins newly acquired players David Datro Fofana, Noni Madueke, Andrey Santos, Gabriel Slonina, and Benoit Badiashile on the list of Chelsea players who did not make the competition squad. Read More: Kylian Mbappe set to miss PSG-Bayern Munich Champions League Clash

However, Chelsea head coach Potter insisted that the player had handled the news of his decision to leave the team well. He said: ‘He’s a professional, I understand he’ll be disappointed. It was a tough call. Pierre is just unfortunate and he’ll be fighting for his place for the rest of the season.

‘Whichever decision we made there was always going to be a conversation about it. It was my decision. You have to make these calls. He’s done nothing wrong at all.

‘I’ve got a responsibility to articulate these decisions as well as I can to the player. He handled it very well, he trained fantastically today.’
