Initial Observations
According to sources, Marcus Rashford is expected to surpass David de Gea as Manchester United’s highest-paid player with a new deal for an astounding £375,000 per week. If de Gea decides to stay at Old Trafford this summer, his pay will be reduced.
Erik Ten Hag, the manager, is confident that Rashford wants to stay and expects him to commit his future to the team and sign an agreement. Though his current contract expires at the end of the month, it is becoming less likely that United’s No. 1 custodian would agree to new terms. Ten Hag prefers to sign a different custodian to take De Gea’s spot in the starting lineup rather than keeping him. A recent omission from United’s retained list suggests that a deal is still far from being reached.
Terms and Conditions of Contract
Rashford will receive an eye-watering wage increase from United thanks to a salary exchange with De Gea, who now makes £375,000. Rashford now earns a base salary of £200,000 per week and has one more year left on his contract after the club decided to exercise an option to extend for an additional year. De Gea, meanwhile, has received a £175,000 cut on the same sum.
The United leadership seems unconcerned about De Gea’s upcoming move. They contend that if he accepts the new contract, he will pay Rashford’s salary increase, but the club would save more money if he walked away. The impending hike in Rashford’s pay would bring his annual compensation to an additional £8.4 million over five seasons, underscoring his significance to Ten Hag. Even though there have been no real developments in the negotiations, sources are said to be adamant that the forward sees his future at United.
