According to the French daily Le Parisien, World Cup winner, Lionel Messi extends his agreement with PSG that will keep him with the team at least through the 2024–24 season.
The 35-year-old forward, a seven-time Ballon D’Or winner, assisted Argentina in winning the World Cup on Sunday by defeating France on penalties.
“In early December, in the midst of the World Cup, an agreement was reached (for Messi) to stay on for at least one more season,” the paper said, citing no sources PSG were not immediately available for comment.
Is Lionel Messi happy at PSG?
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris St. Germain stated this month that Messi was content playing for the Ligue 1 champions and that talks about a contract extension would take place following the World Cup.
On a two-year deal, Messi relocated from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 and has since contributed 12 goals and 14 assists across all competitions for PSG this season.
All the rumours regarding Messi’s departure and being linked with the MLS side Inter Miami has been debunked as Messi chose to stay at PSG.
