The dispute between Karim Benzema and Didier Deschamps is getting worse, and his agent, Karim Djaziri, has published evidence of their altercation against the manager of France’s national team.Â
After suffering an injury on the eve of the World Cup, the Real Madrid star was sent home, and Deschamps declined to select a replacement. However, some stories said that the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner might have rejoined the team for the championship game surfaced.
After recovering from his injury, the striker even participated in a friendly match for Real Madrid, but a major falling out with Deschamps forced Benzema to withdraw from the France team as they prepared for the match against Argentina.
Was Karim Benzema really fit enough to play?
After Benzema initially suffered an injury that was initially thought to be minor, the tensions reportedly started to rise. It’s claimed that Deschamps sent the player back to his club despite the fact that he would have preferred to stay with the France team while it recovered.
Djaziri used Twitter to share his version of events in an effort to put the record straight about what actually transpired behind the scenes.
Alongside a video showing the extent of his client’s pre-World Cup injury, the agent stated: “I put that there but before that, I consulted 3 specialists who confirmed the diagnosis that Benzema could have been fit from the last 16 to at least be on the bench! Why did you ask him to leave so quickly?”
According to reports from the Spanish publication Marca, Benzema would require three weeks to recover from the injury he sustained on November 19. It implied that a possible return date might have been France’s match against in the round of 16 on December 4. Instead, the striker was reportedly in excellent health while on vacation on the island of Reunion. On the same day, Deschamps disqualified him from travelling to Qatar with the team.
Is Benzema having a fallout with teammates as well?
Antoine Griezmann, who had been miffed that much of the media attention had been taken up by Benzema and his fallout with the manager, appears to have joined the majority of the France team in supporting Deschamps on the matter.
Concerned that he hadn’t received as much attention as his Real Madrid rival, the Atletico Madrid star reportedly scheduled a meeting with the French Football Federation.
Benzema has virtually unfollowed all of his former French team members on Instagram since the World Cup ended, so the drama hasn’t ended yet. All have been unfollowed, with the exception of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni, who are his Real Madrid teammates.
