Regarding Dominik Livakovic, who is reportedly a target for Tottenham, Luka Modric has already made his feelings known. The Croatian team that finished third at the World Cup was captained by Modric, and goalkeeper Livakovic played a significant role in their deep tournament run.
He performed heroics once more in the quarterfinal victory over Brazil after saving three penalties in the shootout victory over Japan. Tottenham reportedly kept an eye on Livakovic throughout the competition, and after that victory for Japan, Modric made it clear how highly he views the 27-year-old.
Luka Modric is a big fan of his compatriot
Modric praised Livakovic and told FIFA’s official website after the QF win over Japan: “Plenty of teams have won the World Cup on penalties, they’re part of the game.
“Tonight Livakovic made three impressive saves.
“I’ve watched shoot-outs from the sidelines in the past and it’s not fun at all, I’d much rather be involved and be taking one.
“I never thought about it possibly being my last game for Croatia, because when it went to penalties I told everyone that Livakovic would save them.”

Modric played a big part in Livakovic’s confidence
Livakovic’s confidence and mindset were improved before the tournament even began, thanks to Modric.
On the eve of the final qualifying match against Russia, Modric is seen speaking privately with Livakovic in an episode of the FIFA series Captains.
Livakovic was benched for that match, and Modric told the keeper that he doesn’t exude confidence, which the team picks up on.
As Antonio Conte plans to eventually replace Hugo Lloris, the mentality will be crucial for any player he signs to strengthen his team.
