The two Milan clubs will face off each other at their shared stadium San Siro for a place in the UEFA Champions League final, which is to be held on 10th June in Istanbul. Inter has already set a foot into the final after the Nerazzurri established a commanding lead of 2-0 in the first leg.
Rossoneri find themselves in the backfoot and it certainly won’t be easy for them to overcome the two goal deficit, with the return of Rafael Leao (missed the first leg due to injury) Stefabo Pioli the AC Milan manager belives that his side has got the quality to overturn the tie. Milan currently sits at no five in the league table, four points below the Champions League qualification zone. Their last defeat in the league against relegation battling Spezia led players to a face to face confrontation with the fans. Pre-Match Press Conference-
Stefano Pioli: We know we are starting with a disadvantage, but we also have the quality to overturn it, Now, more than ever, nobody thinks Milan can reach the final. We can play a great game and I know how strong my players are. We’ve made some mistakes, but the past is irrelevant. We have an important goal in mind – to win and qualify for the final, which nobody would have predicted, just as at the beginning of the year no-one would have predicted our presence in the semi-finals.”
Simone Inzaghi:”We know it’s one of the most important games in Inter’s history, We have an advantage, deservedly so, but we won’t just have to manage it. We’ll have to play as Inter, knowing that we have a strong team in front of us. We’re 90 minutes away from a dream, which I and these wonderful guys had. It will take a cool head and a warm heart. It’s the only way for matches like this.”
