The BCCI has announced India’s squad for Asia Cup 2022 of 15 members on Monday. The Asia Cup 2022 will begin on August 27 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Rohit Sharma will lead the team as captain and KL Rahul has returned as the Vice-captain. The former Indian captain Virat Kohli is also back in the squad. Death-over specialists Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel are ruled out of the team due to injury.

Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant are the two wicket keepers in the team. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are the two all-rounders. Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Bishnoi are the bowling options. Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav also secured their position in the team, while Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson missed out.

“The six teams are divided into two groups with India, Pakistan and a qualifying team in Group A and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan forming Group B. Each team plays the other once in the group stage with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super 4 round. The top 2 teams from Super 4 will qualify for the final,” BCCI stated officially.
India will kick-start this year tournament by playing against their arch-enemy Pakistan on August 28. The final of Asia Cup 2022 is scheduled on September 11. This year the tournament will feature in T20 format.
