Brendon McCullum is scheduled to receive nearly a million dollars in salary from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The ECB will also provide bonuses and benefits to England’s new Test squad coach. According to reports, his current salary will be nothing compared to what he will receive as Head Coach.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed McCullum’s appointment as Test team head coach on Thursday (May 12). McCullum will take over as captain, beginning with the home series against New Zealand. The former New Zealand captain is currently in India for IPL duties.
According to reports, the KKR head coach will resign after the end of this season to take up the prestigious role. Having previously coached only in franchise cricket, this will mark McCullum’s first stint as national coach.
“England struggled over the last couple of years, and the style of play has been questioned as well. It gives me the opportunity to try and bring in that real freshness,”

During his four-year contract with England, McCullum will earn a stunning income. According to Telegraph.co.uk, the former New Zealand captain has agreed to a £2 million (about Rs 18.88 crore) contract with the board. McCullum will exclusively work with the Test team, while England will have a separate white-ball coach.
The former wicket-keeper batsman faces a difficult assignment since England has not had a good year. Following their poor performance, the board fired former head coach Chris Silverwood. Last month, Joe Root resigned as England’s Test captain. Ben Stokes, who was born in New Zealand, has taken his spot.
