On 15 December 2022, Tyrell Terry made a post on his Instagram account (@tyterry_) announcing his retirement from professional basketball. Through the caption on his post, the player described the feeling of not being able to love himself anymore and the mental health issues he faced during his career of two years.

Tyrell Terry suffered severe anxiety during his professional basketball career which was leading to mental health issues that could have permanently ruined his life. This is the main reason why the young 22-year-old player decided to take such a big step in his career and retire for good from the sport that he once loved more than anything in the world.
