Serena Williams’ former coach Rennae Stubbs pointed out similarities between Novak Djokovic and Williams. Stubbs drew parallels between both of these players’ on-field antics as both like to let their emotions out which helps them with their game.
Stubbs observed Djokovic’s behavior during the recently-concluded 2024 French Open. The Australia coach said the 36-year-old likes to yell at his box to let his emotion out and not to embarrass them.
“He wants to yell at his box just to let stuff out, not to actually yell at them and embarrass them or anything. He just wants to let his emotions out, and that was that argument with the umpire and all that other stuff,” Stubbs said.
She compared the Serb with Williams saying the latter, to let her emotions out, will break a racquet and move on.
“There’s no question about that. He needs to have an outlet and that is just how he gets through matches. Serena (Williams) was a little bit the same, sometimes, with letting her emotion out.”
“She’d break a racquet, and then just move on. Some players need that, and some don’t. For some, it really detracts from them, but for Novak, it doesn’t,” Stubbs added. Also Read: Novak Djokovic vs Casper Ruud Match prediction, head-to-head, preview, and live telecast | French Open 2024
Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams share another similar thing
Needless to say, Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic have 23 Grand Slam titles each. Djokovic previously was tied with Rafael Nadal with 22 of them and won his 23rd after beating Casper Ruud in the final of the French Open.
This win was the Serb’s second at the Grand Slam this year as previously in January, he lifted the Australian Open as well. Now it will be interesting to see whether he can win the Wimbledon or not.
