Premier League final day: All eyes on relegation zone.

As we enter into the final day of the season, three teams will have their fate looming on the brink of relegation

The 2022-23 Premier League season which was bisected by the 2022 Qatar World Cup comes to an end in Sunday, with all eyes on relegation zone.

Everything is clear and sorted at the top of the Premier League. Manchester City has been crowned as champions for third successive season, it was their fifth Premier League title in six seasons under Pep Guardiola. Manchester City has won the title over second placed Arsenal who were leading the league until 4-1 hammering at the Etihad in April.

Newcastle was the third team to confirm their status for a top-four finish in the Premier League, Eddie Howe became the first manager after Sir Bobby Robson for The Magpies to achieve this feat, last time Newcastle qualified for the Champions League was back in 2002-03. Manchester United thrashed Chelsea 4-1 at home to join the party and will be featuring in the Champions League next season.

As we enter into the final day of the season, the focus will be at the bottom end of the table, where three teams will have their fate looming on the brink of relegation. Only one from Everton, Leicester City and Leeds United will avoid relegation from the top flight. Also read: Manchester United seals Champions League spot: Liverpool’s hope shattered.

Everton have been in England’s top flight since 1954 and have spent 69 years continuously in the Premier League ( most among all three). The Merseyside club sit one place above relegation zone with 33 points, two points ahead of both Leicester and Leeds. Sean Dyche’s men are favorites to escape relegation and will have their fate on their own hands on Sunday as they face Bournemouth at home.

Leicester City did the impossible in 2016 to win the Premier League under Claudio Ranieri but they find find themselves on the edge of relegation this season. The Foxes currently currently have 31 points two less than Everton, but with a better goal difference and have to hope Everton drop points against Bournemouth to stand any chance of climbing out of relegation zone.

Leeds were promoted to the Premier League in 2020 and have spent only three years among England’s elite, Leeds fate might have already been sealed but there is still some hope. Leeds escaped relegation on the final day last season and to do the same, they need to win the season’s final match against Tottenham and will still need other results to go their way.
