The final dates for the 2021–2024 World Test Championship were revealed on Wednesday by the International Cricket Council. The tantalizing match will take place at the London Oval from June 7 to June 11 with a reserve day (12 June). The announcement was made on the ICC’s official social media accounts.
The World Test Championship (WTC), the most important event on the Test calendar, is a week-long celebration of the game’s longest format. The ICC World Test Championship’s two years of intense competition—61 Test matches across 24 series—have culminated in this Ultimate Test.
What are the team ranks ahead of the World Test Championship?
Even though the two competing nations may not yet be known, anticipation is growing for the June matchup as a number of important games are scheduled to take place in the coming weeks to determine the Finalists.
India is currently in second place, closely following Australia in the standings, and both teams will face off against each other starting on February 9 in a four-Test series with a spot at The Oval and the coveted ICC World Test Championship Mace in the balance. For India to have a chance of making it to the WTC final, they must win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which consists of four Test matches. While all six teams have a chance to qualify, Sri Lanka, which is currently third in the standings, and South Africa, which is currently fourth, are the front-runners to challenge the top two. These teams will face off against the current WTC champions New Zealand and the West Indies in two two-Test series in February and March, respectively.
