Joel Embiid stunning 35 points: Led Lakers Fall to 76ers in Another Tight, Disappointing Loss

Joel Embiid contributed to the game-saving stop and the winning shot for the second straight night, giving his team a one-point victory.

The Los Angeles Lakers returned to the court on Sunday night to host the Philadelphia 76ers in an effort to rebound from their dismal loss to the Dallas Mavericks. For Los Angeles, the absence of Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves, and Lonnie Walker IV proved to be too much to overcome Joel Embiid and the 76ers in a 113-112 defeat. Joel Embiid scored at least 30 points for the sixth game in a row, finishing with 35 points and 11 rebounds. Also Read: LeBron James becomes the second player in NBA history to reach 38,000 points.

Joel Embiid does it again for 76ers

Joel Embiid contributed to the game-saving stop and the winning shot for the second straight night, giving his team a one-point victory.

After being labelled as questionable before the game because of a bothersome left heel, Harden finished with 24 points, 13 assists, and seven rebounds.

With 45.7 seconds remaining, the center’s three-pointer gave the Sixers a lead of 113-109. On the following possession, Troy Brown answered with a three-pointer to give the Lakers a one-point lead. On the following trip down the court, Joel Embiid missed a jump shot, giving the Lakers a chance to win. But he and Georges Niang constructed a barrier to stop Russell Westbrook from scoring. With 3.1 seconds left, Niang stopped Westbrook’s attempt before Embiid snatched the rebound. Also Read: Ricky Rubio returns to NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers after an absence of 380 days

LeBron 35 couldn’t assist the Lakers in winning the game.

LeBron James scored eight points in rapid succession, followed by five points each from Joel Embiid and James Harden to knot the score at ten.

James would ultimately require assistance, though, and Russell Westbrook provided it, scoring four straight points after coming off the bench.

LeBron kept up his assault strategy and wasted no time in reaching the 38,000-point mark for his career. He scored 16 points in just the first quarter, and the Lakers fell down 33-32 when Wenyen Gabriel beat the shot clock to close the period.
