High voltage T20 action set to continue even after the IPL! BCCI has announced that South Africa will tour India just after IPL for a 5 match T20I series. The ICC Men’s WT20 is only a few months away, hence both sides will gear up their prep to claim the coveted trophy in their cabinet. After a disastrous WT20 run in UAE last year, Skipper Rohit Sharma and Coach Dravid will look to create a formidable squad to bounce back strong. While the IPL will surely be a great platform to test the players, the series against SA will give them the opportunity to soak pressure at the international arena.
South Africa’s tour of India 2022
The series will be a part of ICC Men’s Future Tour Programme(FTP) 2018-23. The IPL will kick off from March 26 and the summit clash will take place on May 29. South Africa will tour India just post a 10-day break after IPL. As per schedule, Team India will travel to England to complete the pending series of 2021 post the home T20I series.
“This is part of the FTP and there were always to be played after the IPL,”
A senior BCCI official stated.

A tentative schedule of the fixtures
As per sources, the BCCI has decided upon the dates and venues for the tour in its last Apex Council meeting on March 2. The matches will be played from June 9 to June 19. Cuttack, Vizag, Delhi, Rajkot, and Chennai – will reportedly host the matches. Assessing the present pandemic situation in the country, the Council decided to hold each of the matches in separate venues. Thus, this is seen as a measure to steadily restore normalcy in series held domestically. However, the IPL matches will be organized across stadiums in Maharashtra in all probability.
