The Italy national football team is one of the best football sides in the world. They have dominated every tournament and filled their cabinet with numerous trophies. A lot of credit goes to their player, and today, the Italian legend Giorgio Chiellini retires from professional football.
Chiellini was a wall when it came to defending and has always given his best for the national side. He has played a crucial role in whichever clubs he represented and has won at least one trophy with them.
His football journey began in 1990 with the Livorno youth team, when he was just 6 years old. After a decade of hard work and consistent performances, he made his professional career debut with their main squad. Chiellini played over 50 games for the club and won Serie C1, his first professional career title.
Later, a career-changing move to Juventus in 2004 completely transformed his life. No one knew then that this 18-year-old boy would represent the club for 561 games and win 20 trophies, along with a place in the Juventus All-Time Greatest 11.
On the other hand, for the Italian national football team, he made 117 appearances and won the 2020 UEFA Euro Cup, along with three bronze medals and two runner-up titles. He is the joint fifth-highest appearance holder for Italy, and after the 2022 FIFA World Cup, he announced his retirement.
