Liam Broady opined that some tennis players are afraid of coming out openly as gay because that might affect their career owing to some people who are “close-minded” and cannot accept homosexual players.
Broady said that although many people are frank about it and accept homosexuals like it’s the normal thing, some tennis players, however, still face challenges and do not come out freely as gay. The 29-year-old from Britain wants these players to give up being afraid and reveal their gender more openly. “Some in tennis and in life: most people would be completely normal and be like congratulations, well done, no problem; but there’s always some people maybe that would be close-minded and maybe that’s why they might think they wouldn’t be accepted by all the players,” Liam Broady opined in an interview with Clay Tenis.
“Maybe they feel that coming out will add pressure to their tennis. I can understand why is complicated. I hope that if people were, they feel comfortable to come out and be themselves,” he added. Broady wants tennis to develop more openness by giving the example of the rugby and football worlds. Also Read: Novak Djokovic Battling Elbow Issues Ahead Of Banja Luka Open
