Chicago Bears Plan to Keep Justin Fields: As of March 6th 2024, Peter King reports that the Bears have made a decision to keep Fields as their starting quarterback. The Chicago Bears previously faced a critical decision in the upcoming NFL draft: whether to keep Justin Fields, trade him, or trade the pick to another team and accumulate additional draft picks.
What plans do the Chicago Bears have for Justin Fields?
Sports Illustrated journalist Peter King recently interviewed the Bears’ general manager, Ryan Poles, who revealed that three teams are interested in trading up for the top pick. However, King noted that the Bears appear committed to Justin Fields and will not trade him or draft another quarterback.
While there have been few rumours of the Bears trading Fields, it now appears that his job as starting quarterback for the 2024 season is secure. However, the team is reportedly exploring options to trade back in the draft and therefore acquire more picks. If the team is unable to trade the number one pick, reports suggest that they will likely select a defensive player, such as Will Anderson Jr., with consideration also given to Jalen Carter. However, his ongoing investigation could impact his draft position.
Fields’ Improvement in the last 2 Years
Justin Fields has shown constant improvement in his performance in the last two years and is emerging as a promising player in the NFL. Due to this, there is significant interest in the top pick from multiple teams, and the Bears are likely to receive a considerable return whenever they decide to make a move. Presently, the Bears possess eight picks in the draft, which is scheduled to commence on April 27th.
