NBA All-Star Game: Jayson Tatum breaks a scoring record as Team Giannis defeats Team LeBron

Tatum won the Kobe Bryant Most Valuable Player Award for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game in addition to breaking the previous record for points scored in a single NBA All-Star game with 55.

After Team Giannis defeated Team LeBron 184-175 on Sunday night at Vivint Arena, Jayson Tatum took over the NBA All-Star Game and broke the record for the most points scored in the annual showcase with 55. The final goal score of 182 increased the top team’s score after three quarters by 24 points.

Tatum has become the first player in NBA history to reach the 50-point plateau in all four of those competitions: the regular season, postseason, play in tournament, and All-Star Game.

As he advanced to the MVP, Tatum also contributed 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Donovan Mitchell added 40 points, 10 assists, four rebounds, and three steals for Team Giannis. Mitchell played his first five seasons of professional basketball in Utah before being moved to the Cleveland Cavaliers last offseason.

Joel Embiid and Kyrie Irving each scored 32 points, while Jaylen Brown led Team LeBron with 35 points and 14 rebounds. Either captain did not complete the game. This is how the evening went. Jayson Tatum wins the MVP award and made an enormous impact at the game

Forward Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics had a wild night in Salt Lake City. Tatum won the Kobe Bryant Most Valuable Player Award for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game in addition to breaking the previous record for points scored in a single NBA All-Star game with 55.

With his victory, Tatum became the first Celtic player since Larry Bird in 1982 to take home MVP honours at the All-Star Game, making him the eighth player overall.

Jayson Tatum scored 55 points in total for the game on 22 of his 31 attempts, including a scorching 10-for-18 from beyond the arc. Also contributing were the former Duke Blue Devils’s 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal.

When Jaylen Brown and Tatum matched up late in the third quarter, it provided one of the game’s highlights. Tatum may have won the prize, but Brown might have had the last laugh. Brown’s two amazing shots overpowered Tatum, who is taller,, prompting the “too little” celebration to be put aside.

Brown finished the game with 35 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists, ranking third overall in the scoring column. Tatum, though, was the star of the show. Also Read: 2024 NBA All-Star: Jose Alvarado wins MVP and guides Team Pau to victory in the Jordan Young Stars
