Drama about the statement by Jayson Tatum to be the new face of the NBA

Over the past few years, the NBA universe has seen the rise of Celtics player Jayson Tatum. He was the 3rd overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics and is proving to be the best in their history.

He has always started for the Boston Celtics since his debut and has rarely missed a game. In his debut season, he averaged 13.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. That might look average, and maybe it is.

But in the last season, he averaged 30.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. Moreover, he hasn’t been a one-season wonder. His performances, including his stats, have improved season by season.

Similarly, he has been outstanding this season and is averaging 27.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He has been amazing and said something that has sparked controversy.

Jayson Tatum said:

“I feel like it is mine to take!” (On being called the face of the NBA.)

He also mentioned:

“I do feel like if we win a championship, it will be more distinguished and clearer. But I understand I am on that shortlist for sure.”

In return, Tim Legler said:

“I don’t know if he will ever be viewed as the face of the league.”

Is Jayson Tatum the new face of the NBA?

As mentioned, Tatum has been impressive in the past few years. His performances, along with his stats, have improved season by season. He has been averaging 23.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game throughout his career. But being called the new face of the NBA is far from now.

He has been impressive but needs to perform consistently and also win championships to be called the face of the NBA. Do you agree? Let us know your views in the comment section.
