Over the past few decades, the Red Bull F1 Team has proven everyone has the best in Formula 1. They have won multiple championships, and the credit goes to the entire team. But, there have been several controversies between the teammates. Helmut Marko, the current director of the Red Bull team and head of the driver’s development program, mentioned that Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz at Red Bull had a toxic relationship.
Helmut Marko said:
“The atmosphere between Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz at Toro Rosso was quite toxic.”

Here is the complete statement on Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz at Red Bull:
“Sainz was almost on par with Max in Toro Rosso. The bad thing for him is that he was unlucky to have Max as a teammate. The atmosphere between Verstappen and Sainz at Toro Rosso was quite toxic.”
For those who don’t know, Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz were teammates for the Red Bull Toro Rosso F1 team. They were together for one and a half seasons at Toro Rosso (2015 and 2016).
Verstappen and Sainz raced together throughout the 2015 season and scored 67 points collectively. Verstappen scored 49 and Sainz 18 points. Things were looking good for Toro Rosso in the 2016 season, as they finished 7th in 2015.
However, due to an upgrade of Verstappen from Toro Rosso to Red Bull mid-season, this pair wasn’t seen together more in Formula 1.
Will we ever see this duo together on the same team? Only time will let us know.
