After defending his title, O’Malley talked about his most likely opponent and the fighter he wanted to face. He said:
“Dana, get me a jet to Spain, baby! I am coming for Ilia Topuria. He is a scary f**king dude. It excites me, and I want him. If you want me to knock out Merab Dvalishvili, I will do that. But Ilia Topuria is an exciting fight for the people.”
In return, Ilia Topuria was quick to reply and said:
“Suga, congrats. It was a beautiful performance! There is a fight chasing you with Merab. Get that done first.”
Likewise, when Merab wasn’t happy with Sean O’Malley’s call out to Topuria and said:
“What a f**king piece of sh*t!”
Undoubtedly, Suga wants to face Topuria in Spain. But fighting for a double championship with only one title defense seems impossible. Similarly, Topuria is yet to have a title defense as he recently became the new UFC featherweight champion.
On the other hand, Merab Dvalishvili is the No. 1 ranked fighter in the UFC bantamweight division. Also, he recently fought and called out Sean O’Malley for a championship fight, which the UFC might agree on. He has a ten-fight unbeaten streak and stands first for the bantamweight title opportunity.
