Javier Mendez, the coach of Islam Makhachev, names three fights that Makhachev might face!

The UFC Lightweight Champion, Islam Makhachev, has been looking for a challenger since his fight against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 294. A few weeks ago, he openly challenged the top five fighters in the UFC lightweight division but has yet to have a final opponent.

He has been undefeated in the UFC since 2016 and has had two successful title defenses. Moreover, he is currently the No. 1 fighter in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings and would like to continue his legacy.

Looking at Makhachev’s future challengers, his coach, Javier Mendez, names three fighters he might face.

Islam Makhachev’s coach, Javier Mendez, said:

“Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira, and then the Welterweight title (Leon Edwards). They would be my three next fights for Islam Makhachev.”

As mentioned, Makhachev has been undefeated in the UFC since 2016. He is one of the best fighters in the ring. He wants to continue his dominance in the ring and would love to become a double champion in the future.

Before that, he would like to have more successful title defenses that might come against the best fighters, i.e., Gaethje and Oliveira.
