The Indian cricket team has been trophyless since 2013 when it comes to ICC tournaments. They are one of the strongest teams in the world but have often failed to cross the line in knockout matches. Currently, India is hosting the ODI World Cup, and Rohit Sharma is leading the team. More than 1.4 billion people have hopes for the team, and a former Indian cricketer gave a statement about Rohit Sharma.
2011 ODI World Cup winner Virender Sehwag said,
“Rohit Sharma deserves an ICC Cricket World Cup. I want him to win this one.”
The Indian cricket team is one of the undefeated teams in the ongoing ODI World Cup. They have defeated teams like Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh so far. Well, their bowling is unplayable, but the factor “Rohit Sharma” has been unbeatable.
After his duck against Australia, scoring runs is a piece of cake for him. He has scored one century and one half-century with a strike rate of close to 140. Not just this World Cup, he was phenomenal in the 2019 ODI World Cup. He was the highest run scorer in the tournament with six centuries and one half-century.
But all his efforts and hard work have gone in vain, as the player has not lifted any ICC trophy since the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
He is currently leading the Indian cricket team in the 2023 ODI World Cup and has been outstanding. Whether it be batting, bowling changes, fielding, strategies, or every other factor, he has scored 10 out of 10 marks in all the exams. Can he lift the 2023 ODI World Cup trophy, or will he become the third captain to win an ICC trophy for India?
