The 2024 season was a promising one for them compared to the 2022 season. With eight podium finishes and 409 points, they finished runner-up in the constructors’ standings. They had a great start to the season and had double-point finishes in every race. Things were looking good in terms of points, but they couldn’t manage to have consecutive podium finishes.
Well, the Spanish Grand Prix was a turning point for them, as they got their first double podium of the season. Since then, in four grand prix, they have had four podium finishes. Later again, the car was that competitive and failed to get podium finishes regularly.
But the team was great with consistent point finishes and was climbing the constructors’ ladder step by step. Their driver, Lewis Hamilton, was driving amazingly throughout the season. On the other hand, George Russell made several mistakes that cost him the top five finishes.
Well, during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, he stepped up when the team needed him the most. It was a battle for second place in the constructors’ championship, and Ferrari was just four points behind them. Russell began well and gave a great battle to Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez. On the other hand, Hamilton was struggling, and all eyes were set on Russell. He couldn’t overtake Leclerc and finished third in the race, but that was enough to help Mercedes finish second in the constructors.
