“Pep told me: Go there, it’s Barca” on Ferran Torres joining Barcelona in 2022

During the 2021 season, the Spanish footballer, Ferran Torres, left Manchester City to join FC Barcelona. This was one of the most debatable and surprising transfers that happened during the season. Moreover, Manchester City was under the management of Pep Guardiola. Well, recently in an interview, he was asked, What did Pep tell to you, when you told him Barca wanted to sign him? Here is what Ferran Torres replied.

Ferran Torres said,

“Pep told me: Go there, it’s Barca.”

Here is the full statement: “Pep told me: Barca? I just can’t say no to you. It’s my Barca. My Barca. As long as the clubs can agree, you can leave. Barca is Barca.”

If you remember, Pep managed Barcelona for five seasons (2008–2012), and under his management, Barcelona was a complete beast. They won every possible championship that Barcelona competed in—not once but multiple times. The club has always been his heart, and no club can have the place of Barcelona.

As a result, he didn’t say no to him and knew he would get more chances to play with Barcelona compared to Manchester City.

Well, the decision turned out to be good for both Pep and Torres. With the likes of Haaland, Foden, and other players, City would have benched him for most of the games. On the other hand, when he joined Barcelona, he got more chances and won two titles with them.
