Swingman Will Barton reached a contract buyout agreement with the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, the organisation said, and he will now be a free agency.

If Will, 32, contracts with a new team by the March 1 deadline, he will be eligible for the playoffs. In the last year of his deal, he was receiving $14.375 million.
In, 40 games off the bench for the Wizards this season—his first in Washington—Barton is averaging 7.7 points per game. He is only making 38.7% of his shots overall.
During the initial round of the NBA buyout market, the LA Lakers passed on a number of potential candidates. Before the deadline on March 1, though, the Lakers might be involved. According to the most recent speculations, the Lakers might be interested in Will Barton.
Jason Dumas of Bleacher Report reports that Will is still considering his options. And that the Philadelphia 76ers are one team that has contacted him.
In the past, Barton has been mentioned as a possible trade target for the Philadelphia 76ers. Back when Barton played for the Denver Nuggets, he was reportedly one of a select group of guards the Sixers took into consideration as they looked for dependable depth before their postseason runs. After signing centre Dewayne Dedmon, an NBA veteran of 10 years. The Philadelphia 76ers no longer had a roster place free. The Sixers will have to waive someone from their roster in order to add Will Barton.
This indicates that Barton would probably only be given a minor bench position. It might be challenging for Philly to match other teams’ offers if they give the veteran a bigger role.
