The Brazilian fighter, Alex Pereira, recently won the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship by defeating Jiri Prochazka at the UFC 295 event. Well, Pereira winning the championship was hard to digest for some of the fighters, and Bellator Light heavyweight Champion Vadim Nemkov is one of them. He said something that brought some eyes to Pereira and the Russian fighter, Magomed Ankalaev.
Bellator LHW Champion Vadim Nemkov said,
“Alex Pereira is not on the champion’s level. If Magomed Ankalaev gets a shot at the title, he will control Pereira from round one to five.”
Here is the complete statement:
“Alex Pereira is not on the champion’s level. He can’t wrestle. He can barely stay on his feet. Prochazka took him down with ease, and Jiri is not a great wrestler. If Ankalaev gets a shot at the title, he will control Pereira from round one to five.”
To be honest, if Pereira defends his title against any of the fighters in his division, all these noises will shut up. A fighter who competes in a completely different franchise and says something like this doesn’t make sense. But the Pereira vs Ankalaev match card for the title fight looks like fire. Whether we will get Pereira vs Ankalaev for a title match in the future, only time will let us know.
