The Argentine legendary footballer, Lionel Messi won his 8th Ballon d’Or at the 2023 Ballon d’Or event in Paris. Well, now he might have ended the debut of who is the best player in football history. Some might not agree with the above statement, but things may get clearer over time. After winning his 8th Ballon d’Or, he praised some of the youngsters, including the 16-year-old Spanish footballer, Lamine Yamal.
Lionel Messi said,
“Lamine Yamal will play a prominent role and fight for the Ballon d’Or in the future.”
Here is the full statement: Haaland, Mbappe, Vini Jr., and many young players can compete for the Ballon d’Or. “I also think that Lamine Yamal, who is still very young and plays for Barcelona, will play a prominent role and fight for it in the future too.”
Yamal is one of the wonder kids that football has witnessed in recent times. He recently made his professional career debut with Barcelona. Following a couple of weeks, he also represented the Spain national team and scored a goal in his debut game. One of the most important things is that he is just 16 years old. Since the day he stepped on the field, records have been broken by him.
Apart from Yamal, Messi also mentioned young players like Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and Vinicius Junior, who were also included in the nominees for the Ballon d’Or. Sadly, Haaland ended up in the second position, and Mbappe in the third position.
