In the 2024–24 season, football has got a new face in the form of Jude Bellingham. The English footballer has been magical for Real Madrid and is one of the main reasons why the club is standing at the top of everyone in the points table. Recently, the former Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, revealed something that would have changed the fortunes of the club.
Frank Lampard revealed,
“I was desperate to sign Jude Bellingham!”
Here is the full statement: “When I was managing at Chelsea for the first time in 2019, I was desperate to sign Jude Bellingham. But I couldn’t get it through upstairs, the idea of paying £20 million for someone of the age (16 years old) at that time.”
If you remember well, Chelsea won the 2018-19 UEFA Europa Cup, and in the upcoming seasons, they won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. Also, they have ended up in the top 4 teams of the Premier League during the 2018–19, 2019–2020, 2020–21, and 2021–22 seasons. If they had Bellingham in their squad at that time, they could have won at least one Premier League title.
Sadly, the deal wasn’t approached, and since Lampard left the club, they have struggled a lot. In the 2024–24 season, Chelsea have transferred almost every player in their team to other clubs. As a result, the club is struggling at the moment and is hanging in the middle of the table.
