Noel Le Graet Resignation controversy
Le Graet sparked a firestorm of criticism. When he claimed he “wouldn’t even have picked up the phone” to speak with Zidane. And the fury has persisted even after he offered an apology. Didier Deschamps’ contract extension as manager also infuriated certain FFF members since, according to L’Equipe. He failed to adequately consult them first.
Le Graet is now being publicly called to resign by the FFF’s National Ethics Council. Ahead of a dramatic meeting with the executive committee on Wednesday.
“In accord with the FFF executive committee meeting today in Paris. Noel Le Graet has elected to step down from his function as president until the completion of the audit done by the sports ministry,” the federation announced. Another Allegation Slammed
The controversy surrounding Zidane began as a result of numerous allegations of staff mistreatment at the FFF. Which prompted the French government to audit the federation and Le Graet to be called in for an interview.
Le Graet refuted previous claims. But on Tuesday a female football agent brought up new allegations against the seasoned administrator of unwanted sexual attempts in a conversation with the sports publication L’Equipe.
Former socialist mayor of Guingamp, a tiny town in Brittany. Noel Le Graet later managed the development of the community’s football team. Which rose to prominence while he served as the club’s president.
He is the second prominent French sporting official who has recently been compelled to resign.
After receiving a two-year suspended prison term for corruption charges last month. Bernard Laporte, the president of the French Rugby Federation, declared he would submit his resignation.
