Inter Milan has announced that striker Romelu Lukaku has suffered a new injury setback, just three weeks before the World Cup. Lukaku had only recently returned from a hamstring injury that had kept him out for two months, and he now faced another layoff. However, Inter announced that they will assess the injury of Lukaku, as he will miss their upcoming UCL clash against Bayern Munich and could race against time to face Juventus in Serie A on Sunday.
Romelu Lukaku has already endured a frustrating period since returning to Inter on loan in the summer following his nightmare season at Chelsea last season, playing just five times for Simone Inzaghi’s men. He scored on his second appearance for the club against Lecce in August, but then spent time on the sidelines before making his Champions League debut against Viktoria Plzen last Wednesday.

Will Romelu Lukaku miss the World Cup 2022?
There is no indication that Lukaku’s participation in the World Cup is in jeopardy at this time, but his latest setback is likely to worry Belgium manager Roberto Martinez.
The Belgian striker was injured during the last international break in September, missing the Nations League, and he may now be in a race against time to be ready for Qatar. Even if he makes it to Belgium’s World Cup squad, he may have very little game time under his belt. Belgium’s first World Cup match is against Canada on November 23.
