Jadon Sancho, a resurgent winger for Manchester United, is “still not reaching his limits,” according to Erik ten Hag. Since his self-imposed exile ended at the beginning of the month, Sancho has been in excellent form, helping United establish themselves as title contenders. In a 3-0 victory over Leicester City on Sunday, the England international scored off the bench to keep United in reach of Premier League leaders Arsenal. Although Ten Hag was pleased with Sancho’s most recent performance, he insists that there is still a lot of untapped potential in this player.
What did Ten Hag say about Jadon Sancho?
Ten Hag said: “He is in the right direction but he is not at this moment achieving his limits. There is a lot of space for improvement for him and right now he is already on a high level. And I’m sure when he keeps especially the joy of football it will really improve his performance.
“Today when you see he is coming on in the midfield position now, great runs, great passes, good in possession and also, especially the one that gives me a lot of joy, defensive transition.”
On February 1, when Manchester United defeated Nottingham Forest in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semifinal match, Sancho was added back to the Red Devils’ lineup for the first time in three months. After scoring twice in his last three Premier League games, the 22-year-old is now vying for a starting position on a regular basis once more. His goal against Leicester was his second in those three games.
In the second leg of their Europa League knockout play-off match, Erik ten Hag’s team will take on Barcelona at Old Trafford. Currently, the two teams are tied 2-2 overall.
