The Socceroos defeated Indonesia 4-0 at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha earlier today and advanced to the Quarter Finals of the AFC Asian Cup 2024.
The Australians were clearly ahead of the game despite only 3 shots on Target. They led the game since the 12th minute own goal by Elkan Baggott. At the stroke of half time, Martin Boyle made one past the goal line to lead 2-0.

The Australian National Men’s Team have qualified for the AFC Asian Cup QFs since the Socceroos joined AFC in 2007. They have made QFs in 2007 and 2019, and Finals in 2011 and 2015. They won the championship once in 2015 with Cahill and Massimo Luongo.
The game marked the end of Indonesia’s miracle run to the Round of Sixteen. The Red and White debuted in Asian Cup Knockouts for the first time. They qualified to the R16 as the last Third-Placed Team ahead of Oman and China.
Australia will face either South Korea (23) or Saudi Arabia (56) in the QFs. Albeit the victory today, Australia will have to play a tad more better. Australians have had a very small margin so far, 2-0 1-0, and 1-1.
South Korea is one of the tournament favs and a big opponent if they qualify. Saudi Arabia can’t be written off, it wasn’t long ago when they shocked the world with the upset win over Argentina.
