All eyes will be on Jos Butler when the Rajasthan Royals take on Gujarat Titans in the all-important final on Sunday. The England batsman has been in outstanding form this season, hammering 824 runs in 16 matches at an incredible average of 59, with a strike rate of 151.
His unbeaten hundred against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Qualifier 2 propelled his team to the finals as he tied Virat Kohli’s record of most centuries in a season.

With one last match left in the league, the 31-year old could chip away a few more records in his already record-breaking season. Ahead of the game against GT on Sunday evening, Butler is on the verge of history as he could take away 3 elusive records.
Here are 3 major records Jos Butler could break:
Highest run-scorer in a single season
Jos Buttler has 824 runs to his name which is fairly close to Virat Kohli’s tally of 973 runs, the highest ever by an individual in IPL. However, to surpass Kohli he would need to score a mammoth 149 runs in the final. While this might seem unlikely, it is not entirely impossible. However, RR must bat first to give him any chance of achieving this target. Citing the form that Butler has been in this season, if anybody were to break this record it would be him. While de Kock’s 140* is a sign that big hundreds are indeed possible, we will have to remain to see whether Butler can achieve this record.
Most number of centuries in a single season
While Butler’s innings of 106 in Qualifier 2 meant he equalled this record, another masterclass in the final could see him break it. Yet again, for this to happen, RR would need to bat first or chase down a huge target. While this record might seem more probable than the previous, it is going to be as just as difficult.
Most sixes in a single season
While he might be leading this chart by quite a distance this season, the all-time record is just as far. Set by Chris Gayle in his monstrous 2012 season, it would take quite the effort to break this one. Currently sitting at 45 sixes, Butler would need to smack 15 balls out of the park to claim this record. Yet again, improbable but still possible. Keeping in mind that the most sixes in an IPL game is 17, Butler would need to almost replicate this performance to achieve the feat.
