Following a news channel sting operation where he was allegedly seen divulging sensitive information, former India pace bowler Chetan Sharma has resigned from his position as chairman of the senior selection committee.

“Yes, Chetan has tendered his resignation to BCCI secretary Jay Shah and his resignation has been accepted. His position had become untenable after the sting operation. He resigned voluntarily and wasn’t asked to resign,” a senior BCCI source said.

With other members of the selection committee, Chetan Sharma was in Kolkata for the Ranji Trophy final between Bengal and Saurashtra. They were there to choose the Irani Cup team. Chetan claimed that many players take injections to hasten their return to competitive cricket despite being 80–85% fit during the Zee News sting operation.
