On Wednesday, the Las Vegas Aces clinched their second consecutive WNBA championship by defeating the New York Liberty 70-69 in Game 4 of the Finals in Brooklyn.

Despite facing initial offensive challenges and being down by 12 points, the Aces managed to achieve a rare feat not seen in over 20 years by securing back-to-back victories. A’ja Wilson, a two-time MVP, led the way with an impressive performance, contributing 24 points and 16 rebounds. Despite missing key starters Chelsea Gray and Kiah Stokes due to foot injuries sustained in Game 3, Las Vegas secured the victory. Chelsea Gray, the MVP of the 2022 WNBA finals, provided vocal support and motivation to her teammates from the sidelines during timeouts.
The Aces achieved back-to-back championships, becoming just the third team in WNBA history to do so, following the Los Angeles Sparks in 2001-02 and the Houston Comets in 1997-2000. Las Vegas won the 2022 WNBA Commissioners Cup and subsequently the Championship. Aces defeating Connecticut Sun in 2022 finals and brought Vegas their first-ever professional sports victory.
Las Vegas Aces finished first in the regular season with 34 wins and .850 point percentage from 40 games. They met with Chicago Sky in R1 and won straight two games to qualify for the Semi-Finals. In a best of 5, Aces hopped over the Dallas Wings by winning three games.
Breanna Stewart was adjudged as the Season MVP while A’ja Wilson became the Finals MVP.
