One of the Golden State Warriors top players Draymond Green won’t be available for Game 3 against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday.
The NBA suspended from the contest Draymond Green of the Warriors on Tuesday as punishment for stomping on King’s big man Domantas Sabonis’ chest during Game 2 on Monday. The decision to suspend him, according to the press release, “was based in part on Green’s history of unsportsmanlike acts.”
They suspended Draymond Green after Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium earlier on Tuesday stated that it was “looking unlikely” that they would suspend him for a game. In her statement following the suspension, Charania said that “most around Warriors and the situation Tuesday believed a fine was coming.” Also Read: Los Angeles Clippers vs Phoenix Suns Final Injury Report date – 18/04/2023: Is Paul George Playing against Phoenix Suns Tonight?
Draymond Green receives a one-game suspension
In the fourth quarter of Game 2, Green ran into several issues. Draymond Green was spotted stepping on King’s center, Domantas Sabonis’ chest to release himself after being entangled with him while pushing for a rebound.
After more consideration, Sabonis received a technical foul. But they dismissed Green from the contest after receiving a Flagrant 2 infraction. They also observed the Warriors star cursing at spectators at the Golden 1 Centre after his ban and waving as he left the court.
Due to his ban, Draymond Green won’t be able to participate in the Chase Center’s opening playoff game this year. The Warriors will be without a key member of their squad for the game, thus the Dubs will have a tough fight on their hands to maintain their title hopes. What will be the Impact of Green’s absence on the Golden State Warriors?
A 0-2 hole awaits the Golden State Warriors when they return to the Bay Area. This early setback was reasonably anticipated given their dismal road record this season. However, the Dubs had a good chance of tying the series thanks to their strong home record.
The suspension of Draymond Green has significantly hampered this series. A significant factor in the Warriors’ success has been Green’s influence on both offensive and defensive strategies. The Warriors’ forward has constantly been crucial to executing their offense, and the four-time champion is key to securing the low block as the team’s defensive anchor.
The Warriors may experience an increase in their offensive production as Jonathan Kuminga replaces Green in the starting lineup.
