Chelsea has expressed willingness to meet Benfica’s £105 million release clause for Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez. Due to immediate and long-term issues at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will be one of the busiest clubs in the January transfer window.
With his impressive cameos for Argentina, Fernandez won the Young Player of the Tournament honour at the World Cup and has since established himself as one of football’s most promising talents.
With several Premier League clubs including Chelsea showing interest, it appears the Blues have already begun their efforts to sign Fernandez by triggering the sizable buyout clause in his contract with the Portuguese powerhouses.

The Premier League team is prepared to exercise the £105 clause, as they attempt to hold off competition from Liverpool and Newcastle, the latter of which is said to have already had a bid rejected.
Yesterday, the midfielder returned to Benfica’s training facility, and he has already spoken with club president Rui Costa about potential plans to stay. According to Costa, obtaining the Champions League trophy and winning their domestic league should persuade the star to stay at Benfica.

Chelsea will be a pretty busy team in January
Under the leadership of new owner Todd Boehly, Chelsea has undergone a major makeover and has prioritised investing in young players over those who are more seasoned and older.
After the long sanctions during the Roman Abramovich reign have put a lot of pressure on the club and made them unable to operate properly, however, the change of ownership has paved a way for Chelsea to start fresh and land the much-needed players they need. Even though at the beginning of the season Chelsea secured some quality players, they are yet to bring in more stars into their squad.
