Rafael Nadal, a 22-time Major winner, is the first tennis player to take part in the race boat competition. The UIM E1 World Championship, the first all-electric race boat championship in the world, will have Rafa as a new team owner.

Later this year, the inaugural season will begin, and a 22-time Major champion will take part in it. The native of Mallorca has always had a connection to the sea, which supports E1’s mission to rebuild marine ecosystems. Along with his racing team, Nadal will support E1’s Blue Action Programme, which aims to have a positive influence on nearby communities by supporting initiatives that restore marine ecosystems.

Fellow Mallorquin Professor Carlos Duarte will serve as the Blue Action Program’s E1 chief scientist. The Nadal team will compete against a growing field of opponents, including Sergio Perez of Formula 1. Alejandro Agag, co-founder and chairman of E1, paid a visit to Rafael Nadal in Mallorca and took in the tennis complex’s technological features. Rafael Nadal ready to play his part in the UIM E1 World Championship

Nadal should assist at the beginning of an international leadership event that focuses on sport and sustainability in addition to racing and high-speed excitement. A meeting of the foremost experts on sustainability should also take place in Mallorca, with a focus on how sport can help advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Nadal said in a statement: “I’m excited to be getting involved with a project like E1. It values sustainability and will make a positive impact on society as a whole, especially in coastal communities.

I also like the fact that E1 has a clear mission and is committed to preserving marine ecosystems. As a professional athlete, I recognize how making marginal gains positively impacts performance. To see this same competitive spirit and approach being applied at E1 to optimize the performance and efficiency of sustainable marine mobility is good news for our oceans,”.
