American football is one of the sports that is incomplete without a coach. Every American football team requires a big coaching staff, especially a head coach. When we talk about head coaches, Don Shula, Bill Belichick, and Bill Parcells are some of the few coaches that pop into our minds. Similarly, ESPN analyst Mina Kimes believes that Pete Carroll is one of them.
ESPN analyst Mina Kimes on NFL Live said:
“Pete Carroll is one of the greatest coaches in the history of the sport!”
Carroll began his coaching career in 1973 with the Pacific Tigers football team as a graduate assistant. Since then, he has been a coach for several teams until 1994, when his coaching career changed.
He became head coach for the first time in his career in 1994 for the New York Jets. But due to disappointing performances, he was sacked by the team.
Later in 1997, he joined the New England Patriots as a head coach after being a defensive coordinator for the 49ers for two seasons. He led the team to the playoffs and won the division title.
But after three seasons, the team didn’t renew his contract, and he joined the USC Trojans football team. He won several championships with them, and after nine years, he left the USC Trojans Football Team as one of the most successful coaches in college football.
He had already conquered college football and wanted to conquer the NFL. As a result, he joined the Seattle Seahawks, and after 14 long seasons with several championships, he ended his football career. Undoubtedly, he is one of the best coaches in American football history.
