Stephen Curry, a standout for the Golden State Warriors, will be out indefinitely with a left knee injury, the NBA champions announced on Sunday.
The Warriors are unsure of how many weeks Golden State All-Star guard Stephen Curry would miss due to ailments to his left leg, according to the team’s announcement.
The 34-year-old was declared ineligible to continue playing after stumbling to the sidelines.
On Sunday, he had an MRI scan.
“The big thing is he’ll be out for a little while,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters. “In a few days, we’ll reevaluate”.
“I had no idea those ligaments existed,” Kerr admitted. “I believe the major issue is that he’ll be out for a little while. We’ll make another decision in a few days. And the good news is that he’ll be back. We don’t know when, but it’s not an injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season. He’ll be back this season, hopefully sooner rather than later.” Also Read: Mo Bamba, Austin Rivers, and Jalen Suggs suspended after the Magic-Timberwolves altercation
Stephen Curry Injury and All-Star Game
Curry “suffered partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments” in the left knee, a torn interosseous membrane, and a bruise to his lower leg, according to an MRI exam, the Warriors stated in a statement.
The Warriors merely stated that Curry “will not play in (Monday’s) game and greater clarification on a potential timeline will be established in the coming days” in response to speculations that he could miss “several weeks.”
When Stephen Curry and Dallas guard McKinley Wright collided in the third period of the Warriors’ victory at home on Saturday, Curry suffered an injury.
Curry won’t take the court against Oklahoma City on Monday despite averaging 29.4 points per game this year. It now appears extremely likely that Curry won’t be in the All-Star Game, which is in two weeks. Also Read: Joel Embiid scores 47 points as the Sixers defeat the Nuggets and Jokic 126-119.
Another player will replace Curry, or any of the other 24 players chosen for the NBA All-Star Game if necessary by Commissioner Adam Silver, who will be announced on February 19. NBA players, the media, and fans all cast ballots to choose the starting lineup. The NBA’s coaches selected reserves.
Stephen Curry has already missed 11 games this season due to a shoulder ailment, from December 16 to January 7. The Warriors have five games left before the All-Star break after going 6-5 in those contests.
