Islam Makhachev knocks out Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 294

One of the most anticipated main card matches in UFC history took place at the UFC 294 grand event at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Every MMA fan waited a long time for the rematch between Makhachev and Volkanovski. The last time they faced each other was at UFC 284, and Islam Makhachev won the match by decision.

This time, he won the match by knocking out Volkanovski in the first round. The kick and hammer punches by him were enough for the featherweight champion to get knocked out. He won the match in just 3 minutes, 6 seconds of Round One. As of now, the rivalry stands at Makhachev 2 and Volkanovski 0.

Well, this wasn’t the main card match for UFC 294 as Makhachev was going to face Oliveria until he picked up an injury. Looking at the opportunity, Alexander hopped into the challenge for the UFC Lightweight Championship.

He aimed to take his revenge for the UFC 284 event loss and become a champion of two different weight categories at the same time. Sadly, the match results ended up on Makhachev’s side, but they put on a great show of fighting and sportsmanship.
