“I was offered $40 million to return to the UFC,” says Khabib Nurmagomedov

There are numerous fighters in the UFC who compete for the championship and dream of remaining undefeated. But only a handful of fighters in history have become a champion and remained undefeated in their entire MMA career. Among them, we have a Russian fighter, famously called ‘The Eagle’. None other than Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Khabib is one of the only fighters in MMA history to remain undefeated. He fought a total of 29 fights in his MMA career, of which 13 came in the UFC ring. His first fight in the UFC was at the UFC on FX event in 2012. Since then, he has fought in the ring for almost a decade and won the UFC Lightweight Championship in 2018.

With three successful title defenses and the longest title reign in UFC lightweight history, he took his retirement from MMA in 2021. He became a full-time coach and cornerman in the UFC and has trained some of the best fighters in the UFC, who have gone on to become champions.

Well, recently, Khabib revealed that the UFC had offered him one of the biggest paydays to come out of his retirement.

Khabib Nurmagomedov said,

“It’s not easy to just say no to $20, $30, or $40 million.”

Here is the full statement: “It’s not easy to just say no to $20, $30, or $40 million. But for me, it’s not everything. This is not the most important. It was not an easy decision, but if I decide, I decide. It’s finished. I leave this alone. I am happy, and I never regret my decision. Never.”

Before we talk more about Khabib, let’s take a look at his records and achievements in the UFC.
