FIFA World Cup 2022: Raphael Varane “fit and ready” to face Denmark

France's star defender Raphael Varane is ready to return to action for France's FIFA World Cup 2022 match against Denmark.

France’s star defender Raphael Varane is ready to return to action for France’s FIFA World Cup 2022 match against Denmark after missing more than a month due to a leg injury, according to coach Didier Deschamps.

Varane was left out of France‘s 4-1 win over Australia in Group D due to fitness issues. But Deschamps said he was fit to play before that game and could play at the 974 Stadium on Saturday.

FIFA World Cup 2022: What did Didier Deschamps say?

“He could have played, he was ready, he was fit. We discussed it with him,” Deschamps told reporters.

“He was fit for the first game and he’s fit for the second game, we will have to make that decision. The main thing is that he’s fit and ready.”

Good news for France as they heavily relied on Varane as he is a key player for the French side.

France are all aware of how strong the Danish side are so they will take no risk and play will their 100%.

“They beat us twice and made life very difficult for us, so we have to make sure that’s not the case tomorrow,” said Deschamps.

“We can’t say we don’t know them, don’t need any extra motivation at this stage of the tournament… We know it’s a decisive game for qualification.”
