Five time defending champions Mumbai Indians have found themselves in a rut after losing six games in a row. Currently at the bottom of the table with no wins to their name, things seem to be very dire for the side.
The Mumbai Indians are one the most successful franchises of the IPL. With five titles in the last 14 years, the Paltan has given fans many memorable moments over the last decade and a half. However, in this years edition the Rohit Sharma led side are the only one’s yet to get of their starting blocks.

Experts seem to suggest that Mumbai’s misery started right at the auction as they let go of players such as de Kock, Boult and Chahar. The side’s decision to buy Ishan Kishan at a hefty price has come under the scanner as the left-hander simply hasn’t shown up. With the top order falling like stack of bricks every game, too much pressure falls to the the likes of Pollard and Suryakumar.
Can the Mumbai Indians still qualify for the playoffs?
To even have a sniff at the playoffs, the boys in blue will firstly have to win all of their remaining eight games. However, that still doesn’t guarantee the side a spot in the final four. With the side having the lowest net run rate (-1.048) in the tournament, they will have to win all of their matches by huge margins.
Although having made the playoffs in 2014 after losing five in a row, their chances this time around are at the bare minimum. With this year’s tournament comprising of 10 teams, the fight to the playoffs is expected to be much more tougher.
