BAN vs SL: Kusal Mendis ‘under observation’ in Dhaka after complaining of chest pain on the field

Mendis was taken to a hospital for proper diagnosis after a chest pain scare.

The second match of the Test series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is being played in Mirpur. On the very first day of this match, a major incident happened on the field. During the 23rd over of the match, Sri Lankan player, Kusal Mendis suddenly lay down on the ground due to chest pain, which raised everyone’s concerns at that time. After this, the player was rushed to Dhaka Hospital where he was kept under the care of doctors.

The 27-year-old player left the playing field holding his chest soon after he was attended to by the medical staff and looked in some discomfort. While the cause of the chest pain is still unknown, it is learned that the Sri Lankan cricketer was suffering from dehydration leading into the second Test.

Kusal Mendis cleared of complications after a chest pain scare

Kusal Mendis was taken to a hospital for proper diagnosis and better management after complaining of chest pain during the opening session.

“He underwent an ECG and there was no major issue in the report and hopefully he will report back to the hotel within a couple of hours as he is now under observation,”

Said a Bangladesh Cricket Board official.

Sri Lanka’s head coach Chris Silverwood assured the safety of players.

“Kusal is currently having some checks done on him to make sure he’s okay. We will get a report from the doctor. Our first and most important thing is the welfare of the player. Hopefully, he will be okay and back with us in the hotel tonight.”

Chris Silverwood added.

Bangladesh’s team is in a strong position on the first day of the second test match. In this match being played at Dhaka’s Shere Bangla National Stadium, Bangladesh scored 277 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their first innings on the first day. Mushfiqur Rahim 115 while Liton Das is playing 135 runs, both these players have taken the team towards a big score. On the other hand, if we talk about Kusal Mendis, he scored 54 runs in the first innings of the first Test and 48 runs in the second innings.
